hansgrohe ShowerTablet Select shower thermostat with shelf.
Take your showering experience to the next level in a flash with a ShowerTablet Select. The integrated shelf and hand shower holder offer maximum convenience.

How do you want to manage your enjoyment of water? With everything from shower thermostats with a dial to a control centre with Select push buttons and an integrated shelf, hansgrohe offers you multiple control options. A modern thermostatic mixer enables you to enjoy a constant temperature and the complete peace of mind that this brings. A hot water lock also protects you against scalding.

Our tip for harmonious design: use products in matching colours – such as Brushed Bronze, Matt Black or Matt White – throughout the shower area. The range of available finishes for showers, accessories and shower hoses can be found under FinishPlus.

But before you choose your favourite colours, please make an important decision about the type of installation: do you want an exposed thermostat or a concealed one?

When is an exposed thermostat best?

Exposed thermostats protrude from the wall and are ideal for those looking to modernise their shower with little effort as the old connections can often be used when renovating. These kinds of convenient solutions increase your showering enjoyment in an instant. With their modern and understated design, hansgrohe exposed thermostats fit perfectly into any bathroom. Even thermostatic mixers like the ShowerTablet Select can be attached to existing water connections in a few simple steps. Thanks to its integrated shelf, this beautifully designed, multifunctional thermostat offers plenty of space for your toiletries. Our style tip: create harmonious combinations such as a shower thermostat in metallic gold combined with a gold-coloured rain shower.

Incidentally, all hansgrohe shower thermostats feature standardised connection dimensions so as to fit in any bathroom. They even make a great choice when giving rental properties a refresh as they are quick to install and uninstall.

hansgrohe ShowerSelect concealed installation shower thermostat.
With concealed thermostats such as the ShowerSelect Comfort, a professional plumber will discreetly conceal the showering technology in the wall. This offers you greater freedom, comfort and convenience.

When is a concealed installation thermostat best?

Fans of minimalist design love the ability to hide everything that they don’t want on view within the shower wall. In this case, the technology. Our pre-fab sets comprise flat shower thermostats that are impressively compact, wonderfully easy to clean and remarkably quiet. There’s no risk of users knocking into anything or scalding themselves in these kinds of ‘neat’ showers – making them ideal for accessible bathrooms!

Important: the wall has to be opened when installing concealed thermostats, making them particularly suitable for new builds and renovations. The work must be performed by a qualified plumber as knowledge is required of how to install the iBox universal 2 base set and connect it with an appropriate pre-fab set.

Exemplary: concealed thermostats with impressive ease of use

  • The award-winning RainSelect shower thermostat also makes showering a wonderfully haptic experience. The central control board for your home spa features a sleek design, quality surfaces and space-defining character. How many water sources do you want to control?

Before choosing your thermostatic shower mixer, please answer the following questions: do you want your bathroom to feature a hand shower, an overhead shower or both? What’s more, do you want to control the spray types of your shower(s) using the thermostatic mixer? The number of consumers (= water sources) is a decisive factor when determining the type of your new shower thermostat.

  • Two to five consumers can be controlled using a central control board: with the RainSelect concealed thermostat. This is an amazing solution for the shower, enabling multiple shower heads with multiple spray types.
  • Between two and four consumers can be controlled using concealed shower thermostats such as the ShowerSelect Comfort. This solution again enables you to shower with up to three shower heads.
  • One consumer – a hand shower or an overhead shower – can be controlled using an exposed shower thermostat, such as a ShowerTablet Select. hansgrohe also offers minimalist concealed installation versions for this more basic solution.

Thermostatic mixers: features for more sustainability and safety

  • EcoStop/EcoStop+: enjoy full control while saving water. The function initially reduces the water flow to a maximum of 10 l/min or 6 l/min (both at 3 bar). If you ever want more water, simply press the little button on the back of the thermostatic mixer handle.
  • WaterFlowControl: resource-conserving shower controls. Use a dial to precisely set the volume so as to reduce your hot water and energy usage.
  • CoolContact: sophisticated cooling technology keeps the thermostatic mixer cool at all times to prevent it from feeling too hot or even burning you.
  • SafetyStop: a safety lock for above 40°C. In other words, useful temperature limitation that reliably protects you from being scalded.

Key information about shower thermostats

How does a shower thermostat work?

A shower thermostat keeps the water temperature constant while you’re showering. This enables you to enjoy your shower to the full, without any fluctuations in temperature. A shower thermostat, or shower mixer with thermostat, features a chamber in which hot and cold water are mixed to achieve the desired temperature. The shower thermostat then regulates the water flow automatically to keep the temperature stable, even if water is being used in other areas of the home.

What is the difference between a shower thermostat and a shower mixer?

A shower thermostat enables you to set how warm the water should be for your shower – as well as to activate a temperature lock at 40°C, for example. This hot water lock reliably protects you against unpleasantly hot water or even scalding. The shower thermostat features a chamber in which hot and cold water are mixed before being released from the shower so that the water temperature when showering remains stable. A shower mixer does not have this kind of mixing chamber. Instead, you have to manually control the water temperature and volume while showering and constantly adapt them to your current needs.

The shower thermostat has been installed but only hot or cold water flows. Why might this be?

One possible cause could be that the connections for the hot and cold water have been mixed up during the thermostatic mixer’s installation. If this has occurred, hansgrohe offers a solution for almost all products. You can find the spare parts number in your shower thermostat’s installation manual or look it up in our online spare parts catalogue.

The thermostat handle is hard to operate. How can I resolve the problem?

There are several potential reasons why the thermostat in your shower could be difficult to operate. For example, deposits on the sealing surfaces could prevent the controls from working smoothly. Please replace the component in accordance with the installation manual provided. Further information can be obtained from the hansgrohe online spare parts catalogue.

How can I replace my old shower thermostat with a new one?

hansgrohe (exposed insulation) thermostatic mixers can be quickly connected to your shower, and switching from an old one to a new one doesn’t require any great technical skill. Please follow the installation manual. If there’s anything you’re unsure about, please consult a plumber, who will install the product safely and professionally for you. Bathroom specialists in your area can be found using the hansgrohe showroom locator. Further information about the installation of concealed thermostats can be found in the hansgrohe bathroom guide.
